1. New Year celebration by PGI staff with Management on 1.1.2024 in the ground floor seminar hall

2. On Jan 26th, 2024, PGI celebrated the REPUBLIC DAY. A Marathon event was organised from Kengeri Satellite club to the Padmashree campus @ 6.30 Am. Students from other departments, nursing students with faculties Mr.Ashok Seervi & Mr.Anjan Mishra participated. Patriotric speech, Patriotric songs, and Cultural programs was conducted with great Salute by hosting our INDIAN FLAG by our Chief Guest Prof Rajesh Shenoy sir & Principals of PGI.

3. On Feb 22nd, 2024, in collaboration with Rashtrotthana Blood Center, we organised a blood donation camp, on our campus, where nearly 17 nursing students donated blood.

4. The Lamp Lighting & Oath dedication ceremony held on March 6th 2024, was inaugurated by Dr. Bhima Uma Maheswari, Principal of PION & PSON, Chief Guest Smt. Jayathi V, Principal of KIDWAI College of Nursing, Sri. T.K Narayanappa, Managing Director of PGI and freshers students of GNM 1st year (21st batch ) & B.Sc (N) 1st semester (20th batch ). The program was held at Physiotherapy conference hall. The program was well organized, Students took the FLORANCE NIGHTINGALE OATH, and the Ceremony was adjourned with a delicious lunch.

5. On 5th April 2024, 3rd-semester B.Sc (N) Students Ms. Chandana, Ms.Chaitamnya, Ms.Brunda & Ms.Meghana during INU clinical postings, did a presentation on catheter care, personal hygiene and renal diet for patient attenders.

6. On 6th April 2024, Workshop on Career guidance by Medivaah, participants were the B.Sc ( N) 4th yr & GNM 3rd yr students, held at conference hall between 10- 12.30 pm.

Dr.Shabiya Ranjit, Head of Networking & Liason officer, was highlighting on 

  • Understand the current healthcare landscape and future opportunities
  • Learn how to navigate the job market and build a successful career
  • Gain practical tips on using Medivaah to their advantage.
  • Connect with Medivaah representatives and ask questions regarding the Medivaah application.

    The interactive session was very useful for the students.

7. On April 10th, 2024, 3rd-semester B.Sc (N) Student Ms. Chandana, gave health education on Cholera awareness to patients at INU hospital.

8. On April 13th, 2024, a Seminar on Digital Health care driven by Artificial Intelligence by Mrs. Anantha Sai, Course Director, Chaitnya Medical Foundation, Bangalore. Participants were the B.Sc ( N) 4th yr & GNM 3rd yr students, held at conference hall between 10.30- 12.30 pm.

Our Principal Dr.Bhima Uma Maheshwari Mam gave a brief introduction about the session and introduced the Director of the Chaitanya Medical Foundation Mrs.Anantha Sai. The seminar presentation started with an innovative video followed by an explanation about artificial intelligence, how it is important to the medical field, especially in the nursing filed after becoming an independent nurse practitioner, and with the additional course of digital health care what are all the scope for the nursing student to work in various fields both in National and International. Explained about the digital course is incorporated by the government of India in the website National Health Digital Mission and the duration of the course, fee structure and mode of training the students both theory and practical sessions. The presentation was more innovative and it was very useful to the students on how artificial intelligence is advancing in the health sector.

9. On April 15th, 2024, 3rd-semester B.Sc (N) Student Ms. Chandana,, Ms.Chaitanya, Ms.Awan Jessica, Ms.Meghana, performed a Demonstration on internal jugular Catheter care, Catheter care & personal hygiene to patients at INU hospital.

10. Demonstration in Sulikere Community Rural village by GNM 3rd year students, during community postings. On 16th April & 17th April 2024, students demonstrated many procedures to the needy such as checking weight, BP, Hb estimation, Urine sugar testing etc

11. On April 20th 2024, presentation on Mental Health Volunteers Sensitization Programme, by CAD-CV project team – NIMHANS. Participants were the B.Sc (N) 4th yr & GNM 3rd yr students, held at conference hall between 10 – 12.30 pm.

Ms.Asha Vision Project Associate & Ms. Pooja .B, Nursing officer of CAD –CV team, highlighted on what is CAD-CV, who are the volunteers, how will be volunteers be trained and what are the benefits for volunteers. This interactive session helped our students to understand the importance of basic mental health and empowered them to identify and assist people who are in distress, under stress or struggling to cope with their current situation.

12. On 22nd April 2024, Presentation on UK Nursing Integration program- A Career Path to UK by Prof. R.Vijayakumar, Director Massimo Global Academy India, Pvt, Ltd, Bangalore. Participants were the B.Sc (N) 4th yr & GNM 3rd yr students, held at conference hall between 3- 3.30 pm. Our Principal Dr. Bhima Uma Maheshwari mam has given a brief introduction about the session and introduced Sir. Sir was explaining the need of nurses in UK, Procedure protocol to work in UK, Duration of work, Salary, Vacation benefits, Insurance coverage, Safety & security for nurses etc. Students were encouraged to have interaction by asking the doubts. The session was very useful. Sir, presented Momento to our Principal Mam.

13. On 25th April 2024, Home care presentation by Mr.Murali Mohan, Sr.Executive HR APOLLO HOME CARE, Pvt, Lmt Bangalore. Participants were the B.Sc (N) 4th yr & GNM 3rd yr students, held at conference hall between 2-3pm. Our Principal mam Dr. Bhima Uma Maheswari, introduced the team members and highlighted the emerging trend of home care service in India. He was explaining in detail regarding, Apollo Home care , employee benefits , location of Apollo home care service in India , what are the statutory benefits, disciplinary measures for employees, code of conducts for employee , service rewards and special allowance for their excellent performance etc. This interactive session helped our students to understand the importance of Home care in this current situation and its scope.

14. SNA Election-2023 -2024
SNA election for the year 2023-2024 was conducted on 04/05/24 at 1:30 pm.The planning of SNA election was done as below,

1. Calling for the nomination on -1/05/24.
2. Making the ballot paper before – 03/05/24.
3. Conducting election – on 04/05/24.
4. Counting the votes and announcing the results on the same day – 06/05/24.

15. International nurse’s day celebration was organized by INC, through a ZOOM meeting on May 15th, 2024.
This report provides a picturization of International nurse’s Day organized by INC team members.

1. The zoom meeting started at 11:30 am. Smt. K.S . Bharati, Joint Secretary has been introduced the international nurse’s day and also she had done brief introduction about the speaker on the international nurses day celebration.
2. Lt Col Dr. Sarvjeet Kaur, PhD, Secretary of the Indian Nursing Council had done welcome speech and she welcomes the dignitaries of the dice. Nearly 1000 membres and colleges have been joined the meeting
3. Recorded videos has been played on the meeting for encouraging the students and nursing fraternity about being choosing nursing profession
4. Madam. Pam Cipriano, President of the International Council of Nurses (INC) has been sent wishes for all nurses and nursing students and reveals the theme of nurses day celebration that is “Our Nurses Our Future, The Economic Power Of care”.
5. Dr. Roy K George, President of TNAI, has informed 156 Govt. colleges are going to be start in this year has been confirmed by Govt. of India and should all the students and staff should get all the benefit given by the govt. he added.
6. The students were gained the wonderful knowledge about the Theme of International Nurses Day -2024 and meaning NURSE abbreviation and been responsible for the profession. And the meeting was consummated.

16. Nurses Day Celebration on 18th of May, 2024, THEME: “OUR NURSES. OUR FUTURE. THE ECONOMIC POWER OF CARE.”

Padmashree Institute of Nursing & Padmashree School of Nursing has observed the International Nurses Day 2024 on 18th of May, 2024 at the Seminar Hall. The theme for nurse’s day for the year 2024 is “Our Nurses. Our Future. The Economic power of care.”

The programme started with prayer song and lamp lighting by the dignitaries. Mrs. Sundharam Madhavan, Vice-Principal welcomed the gathering. The formal function was hosted by teachers Ms. Sonia Kamei and Ms. Sushma Yumnam.

Honourable Founder & Managing Trustee of PGI, Shree T.K. Narayanappa Sir graced the occasion and addressed the gathering. Our beloved Principal of PION & PSON, Dr. Bhima Uma Maheshwari open the theme of nurses day programme and also delivered an important message on the significance and contributions of the nursing professionals and scope of nursing.

This was followed by felicitation of the meritorious students and academic toppers to encourage them and the others to do even better. Various events and competitions were also organized such as Quiz competition, Elocution, Poster Presentation, Pencil Sketch and so on. Exciting prizes were also given to the competition winners as a part of the celebration. Along with these, there were also other non-competitive dance performances by the different batches.

The Nurses Day Programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Mrs. Kala Suneetha, Professor & HOD of Community Health Nursing. All faculty members and students had participated in the programme. The programme finally ended with the National Anthem and followed by lunch is served to all the members

17. B.Sc Nursing 3rd year students conducted fresher’s day for newcomers on 25th May 2024

The programme kick-started with the prayer song and the lightening of the lamp followed by a ramp walk by all the Freshers and each student was given a task. Every participant was dressed dashing and leaving fire on the ramp. The contest included several rounds involving various interesting games, singing, dancing, talent display, dress parade and the like, which wove the magic of fun and joy into the event. However, 2 students were shortlisted for Mr. Gapoorhsa and Ms. Graciella Fresher’s titles. Participants had to perform the task given by their seniors in that particular time. After stiff competition finally 6 candidates were shortlisted and task was given to perform. Final round task was won by Mr. Abulais and Ms. Lalnunthari. The students performed cultural shows welcoming the fresh batch students. The campus reverberated with the songs and dances and other programmes. The event winded up by rocking dance and grooving by the Freshers and seniors, followed by the delicious lunch. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks and all the Freshers thanked the Principal, staff and seniors students for hosting such a nice program that they could cherish lifelong. The program ends up by 4.00 Pm, leaving behind sweet memories.

18. Child Health Nursing Department conducted a poster presentation on complementary feeding on 6th June 2024. B.Sc (N) 3rd year and GNM 2nd year students actively involved. It was held in the 1st floor seminar hall at 3.00 pm. The program started with welcoming the gathering by Miss. Tsering. Mrs.Mary Sasikala, Prof FON department evaluated the poster presentation as a Judge. Principal mam Dr (Mrs) Bhima Uma Mahewari, was highlighting on the importance of complimentary feeding. For all the students, participated in poster presentation was given a token of appreciation by the Child health nursing department faculties Mrs. Pankaja ( Professor) Mrs. Gayathri ( Asst.Prof) & Mrs.Padmanjali ( Lecturer).

19. Seminar on Introduction to Pranic healing by Abilasha Prana centre

Abilasha Prana center organized a Seminar on Introduction to Pranic healing at Padmashree Institute of Nursing on 10/6/2024 to the students of Bsc IV and GNM III year. Before starting of seminar our Principal Dr. Bhima Uma Maheshwari mam has given a brief introduction about the session and introduced the Facilitator Ms.Indushri Haridas who was the incharge of Abilasha Prana center. Ms.Indushri Haridas has introduced by herself and given brief introduction about Pranic healing later the session was started in Zoom Platform by the speaker Ltd.Col. Mr. Venkataramana who is the Rtd Army officer. Sir has explained about Pranic healing and their importance on treating various diseases with out touching the patients for period of one hour session. After the presentation Ms.Indushri Haridas has given demonstration how the pranic healing will be done for curing the diseases with the help of the students in this demo our Principal Dr.Bhime Uma Maheswari and faculty Mrs.Kala.Suneetha also attended in this session. The seminar was concluded with course duration and fee structure.

This seminar was more innovative and it was very useful to the students how Pranic healing is advancing in health sector.

20. International Yoga Day “Yoga for Women Empowerment “was celebrated on 21 June 2024 at 10.00 am in the Padmashree campus . The programme was inaugurated by chief guests dr.nischal parthasarathy and ms.rashmi gokhal .and given prizes for the winner of sports day.

21. ESIC model hospital conducted International Yoga Day on 21st June 2024. Our nursing students actively participated in the Yoga Day celebration with our faculty. Refreshments been distributed to all the participants.

Student Life and Support Services :

Class coordinators & Sub – coordinators of each batch, been monitoring the students wellbeing. In case of any health issues, immediately, its been brought to the notice of Principal, Necessary arrangements been taken care for the students. Hostel warden is taking at most care in hostel.

We have Ambulance service round the clock for the sick students. We have Health center in our campus. Also we have near by Hospitals to get good care for the sick students.

Students who are finding difficulty or to cope up in studies, been councelled by our Psychiatric department HOD Prof.Mr.Channabasappa.

We focus on academic success , through various methods of teaching, demonstration, exposing the students through seminars, presentatations etc. We also give the students ample amount of practice in writing the tests, sessionals examinations, revisions, model examinations, OSCE sessions etc.

• On Jan 29th, 2024, Dr (Mrs) Bhima Uma Maheswari, attended the Doctoral committee meeting of Ms.Rajeswari Bingi, AT NIMHANS, Bangalore.
• On Feb 24th 2024, Dr (Mrs) Bhima Uma Maheswari, participated in the Civic felicitation to Dr.T.Dileep Kumar, INC president, to celebrate the conferment of HER ROYAL HIGHNESS PRINCESS SRINAGARINDRA AWARD received from Royal house of THAILAND , in collaboration with the trained nurses Association of Karnataka branch , at Hotel Lalit Ashok, Bangalore
• On Feb 26th, 28th, 29th & March 4th, Dr (Mrs) Bhima Uma Maheswari, was deputed as a Scrutiny committee verification member at RGUHS, Bangalore.
• On March 5th & 6th, Mrs.Mary Sasikala, was deputed for OBG question paper setter at RGUHS, Bangalore.
• On March 20th 2024, Dr (Mrs) Bhima Uma Maheswari, attended the RAC presentation of Mrs.Pankaja on the Effectiveness of Multifaceted Intervention on WALK among children (13 – 19 years) with Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM) at a selected Hospital, Bengaluru.
• On April 5th, 2024, Dr (Mrs) Bhima Uma Maheswari, attended the RAC presentation of Mrs.Kala Suneetha on the Impact of the Community based Lifestyle Improvement Programme (CLIP) on Healthy Behaviours, Glycemic control and Body Metrices among Prediabetic adults at selected Community Bengaluru- A Quasi-experimental study

Past Year Events (2023)

1. Road Safety Awareness program was conducted on 28/01/2023, 2 hour’s session at PIMS Basement Auditorium. It was organized by Padmashree School of public health with Bangalore Traffic police. B.Sc Nursing 4th year students attended the program.

2Lamp Lighting & Dedication Ceremony was celebrated for B.Sc (N) 19th batch & GNM 20th Batch students on January 31st Chief Guest was Prasanna Kumar O, KSNC Registrar who graced the occasion. Program was well organized, Students has taken the FLORANCE NIGHTINGALE OATH, and Ceremony was adjourned with delicious lunch.

3. Farwell, yes it’s just sharing of Joy & happiest moments. All the faculties have given a surprise LUNCH party to our beloved M.Sc (N) 2nd years on February 9th at LULU MALL, Bangalore. Students and Staffs spent the day with sweet memories. Wow food was so delicious and mouth-watering.

4. RALLY was organized by Sulikere PHC along with our Community health nursing department to create awareness on Cancer- the dangerous disease on February 13th 2023 in Doddabasti community area. B.Sc nursing 4th year students has participated in the Rally with charts & pluckcards stating the PREVENTION OF CANCER SLOGANS

5. Organized State Level workshop on Professional advancements, its key roles & functions on 1st April 2023.

The formal inaugural session held with the Chief Guest Prof. Rajesh Shenoy, Director, PGI and Dean Allied Health Sciences RGUHS & Dignitories. Sir addressed the participants by highlighting the importance of the workshop theme. Dr Bhima Uma Maheswari opened the theme. Inaugural session came to an end with Vote of thanks. Prof. Preetha T. Bai Professor IKON college of Nursing was our KNC observer.

Excellent speakers emphasized there valuable contribution  Dr. A. R. Manjjuri Principal, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences College of Nursing, Bengaluru, highlighted on  Continuing Education. Dr. A. Lakshmi Principal Sri Shankara College of Nursing, Bengaluru on Career opportunities. Dr. Fathima L, Dean, Columbia College of Nursing, Bengaluru, emphasized on Collective Bargaining. Dr. Shabiya Ranjit, Head of Networking and Liason Medivaah, briefed about Know the World beyond Clinics.

Had a very delicious lunch, followed by Poster presentation. We came to the end with Valedictory session. Nearly 14 colleges 270 delegates participated in workshop.

6. New on board Health care- Talent Search Factor conducted orientation program regarding importance of Simulation on April 26th 2023 for final year students.

7. SNA election was held on April 27th 2023 for GNM and B.Sc (N) students. The responsibility was taken care by Mrs.Pankaja.K.E & Ms.Soniya Kemai. Students was casting their votes for selection of SNA Vice president, Secretary, Treasurer.

8.B.Sc fresher’s day was celebrated on April 29th 2023. Enjoyed the day with full of energy and enthusiasm. Freshers was overwhelmed with cheerfulness and happiness.

9. On 12th May 2023, International Nurses Day was celebrated, which organized by SNA unit. Chief Guest was Dr.Bharathi, Principal, ESIC College of nursing, Bangalore, addressed the gathering by opening the theme “Our nurses Our Theme”. Followed by it various competitions was scheduled like Quiz, Elocution, Fancy dress, Poster presentation, Lucky draw etc. Surprise game was organized for the faculties. Students participated very sportively. For all the winners Prize was distributed. Also for Distinction holders & class toppers cash was awarded with certificate and trophy.

10. GNM fresher’s day was celebrated on 13th May 2023 with lots of rocking performances by the seniors in welcoming there juniors. Program was well organised with games and performances. All of us enjoyed very well with delicious lunch.
